Volvo Ocean Race is almost here!

June 28th, 2012

I had the pleasure of being the MC for the launch of the Global village last night. The place is awesome. It is the largest facility in the West of Ireland. It can seat 2,500 people in banquet style, boasts 4 16 foot screens and had an impressive 70,000 watts of sound! Some amazing events will occur there in the next week or so and they promise to be fantastic!

Back to basics

July 24th, 2011

It seems that when money gets tight, we like to get back to basics and rediscover the simple (and inexpensive) things in life. For some the prospect of sleeping in a field in a tent fills them with dread, but, if you haven’t tried it, don’t knock it! Camping is a way of life in our family and we have managed a camping trip each year for the last 4 years and to be honest, summer wouldn’t be the same without it. We have experienced lots of different campsites all over the country, but, we have settled on Westport house as our campsite of choice. As well as having a very well maintained site with all the usual mod cons, you have the added advantage of a varied choice of activities that are suitable for the whole family. There are lots of new attractions this year too, with Zorbing proving to be a big hit with my two eldest (14 and 8). If you fancy something a little slower paced, you can try the swan pedalos or the lovely train. The tour of Westport house is a must as it would be a shame to miss out on this truly magnificent building. It’s all very accessible and great value.
